Environmental, Social & Governance

Responsible Mining.
Lasting Impact.

Onsien Energy operates across seven Nigerian states. Every site we work on carries a responsibility to the land, the communities around it, and the people who will inherit it.

E
Environmental

Land rehabilitation, waste reduction, and responsible extraction across all active sites.

S
Social

Community employment, education support, and local supplier partnerships in every state.

G
Governance

Full regulatory compliance, transparent reporting, and board-level accountability on ESG matters.

Mining That Builds, Not Just Extracts

Nigeria's mineral wealth belongs to its people. Onsien Energy operates on a simple principle: we do not leave a site worse than we found it. From the coal fields of Kogi to the lithium corridor of Nasarawa, every project is scoped with environmental and social impact assessments before the first tonne moves.

We hold active Mining Exploration Permits and Purchase Licences across seven states. Each licence carries obligations we take seriously — community engagement, environmental bonds, and reporting to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.

Environmental

Protecting Nigeria's Natural Heritage

Mining without environmental stewardship is extraction without a future. Onsien maintains site-specific environmental management plans at each of its seven state operations, covering land use, water management, dust suppression, and post-extraction rehabilitation.

Land Rehabilitation

Post-extraction land is progressively rehabilitated using native vegetation. Topsoil is preserved during overburden removal and replaced after extraction to restore agricultural potential in surrounding communities.

Water Management

Sediment control barriers, water recycling at wash plants, and zero-discharge protocols protect waterways near active sites. Groundwater monitoring is conducted quarterly at all Kogi and Nasarawa operations.

Dust & Air Quality

Water suppression systems on haulage roads, enclosed crushing facilities where feasible, and mandatory PPE for all site workers. Dust monitoring conducted at site perimeters and nearest community points.

Waste Classification

All mine waste is classified, segregated, and disposed of in designated engineered waste facilities. Hazardous materials from maintenance activities are handled through certified waste contractors only.

Carbon Awareness

Fleet efficiency programmes on haulage equipment, engine idle-time reduction protocols, and preference for mechanically sound equipment over older high-emission alternatives in procurement decisions.

Compliance Reporting

Annual environmental compliance reports submitted to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. Third-party audits conducted on high-volume sites. Findings acted on within agreed remediation timelines.

S
Social

Communities First. Always.

Onsien Energy does not operate in isolation from the communities it works within. From the limestone quarries of Ogun State to the gold corridors of Zamfara, our presence is felt — and we want that presence to be a net positive for every household near our sites.

Local Employment

A minimum of 60% of site-level roles at each operation are filled by workers from the host community or surrounding local government area. Priority is given to unskilled and semi-skilled roles for community members before external recruitment.

Education Support

Onsien supports primary school infrastructure in host communities, including desk and seating supply, roofing repair, and borehole drilling for clean water access at school premises. Active in Kogi, Kaduna, and Nasarawa states.

Local Procurement

Consumables, building materials, and support services are sourced from local vendors where available. Food supply for camp operations, transport, and cleaning services are contracted within the host LGA before looking externally.

Health & Safety

Site safety inductions are mandatory for all personnel including visitors. Personal protective equipment is provided at no cost to site workers. Monthly toolbox talks are conducted by site supervisors, with attendance logged and reviewed.

Community Dialogue

Quarterly community liaison meetings are held at each active state operation. A dedicated community relations officer is present at all Tier 1 sites. Grievance mechanisms allow community members to raise concerns without intermediary barriers.

Security & Peace

Onsien works with state and traditional authority structures to maintain peaceful operations. No site security involves weapons or intimidation. Community watch partnerships are preferred over armed guarding in host areas.

G
Governance

Accountable. Transparent. Compliant.

Good governance is the foundation that makes environmental and social commitments credible. Onsien Energy operates with full regulatory compliance across all licences and maintains board-level visibility of ESG performance at every state operation.

Licence Compliance

All mining operations run under valid Mining Exploration Permits and Purchase & Supply Licences issued by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development. Renewal schedules are tracked at board level.

CAC Registration

Onsien Energy Limited is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC 1505506), incorporated 26 June 2018. All business activities are conducted under the company's registered legal identity.

NEPC Export Framework

Export operations are structured within the Nigerian Export Promotion Council framework. Documentation, quality certificates, and export permits are obtained before any international commodity shipment.

Board Accountability

ESG performance is a standing agenda item at board level. The MD reviews quarterly site reports from each state operation. Material incidents are escalated within 24 hours to executive leadership.

Anti-Corruption Policy

Onsien maintains a zero-tolerance policy on bribery and facilitation payments. Staff at all levels are briefed on the policy at onboarding. Third-party agents and contractors must sign compliance declarations before engagement.

Stakeholder Disclosure

Material business information is disclosed to shareholders and partners on a need-to-know basis with appropriate confidentiality protections. Investor-grade reporting is available upon request under NDA to qualified counterparties.
